Special Sierra/Wall Street blank tip

Ever bought an expensive, or special blank (or Acrylester) that you were hesitant to turn? You want to make a Sierra/Wall Street II but you're not sure if the material is brittle. Here's a tip I've been using for a while:

Start out with bushings for the Sierra Vista/Wall Street III. I've had my share of blowouts (dang circuitboards!!!) and if a chunk blows out, switch to regular Sierra bushings. This works, even with circuitboards.

By the time you've turned the blank close to the Vista bushings, the resin is round and the most difficult part of turning is done. At this point you have several choices:

Turn it down to Sierra size
Sand it down to Sierra size
Leave it as it, a Vista is just fine

I had some special bushings made for the Vista (from JohnnyCNC). The clip end bushing is larger than the nib end - it matches the diameter of the rings that hold in the clip. More than once I have messed up on the big end and traded the bushings in the ends.

I happen to have both sets myself. If I ever turn a wall street ll again i will have to remember this.
