I have been wearing a dust mask for several months. I kept having sores in my nose, non-exisitent since I stated with a mask. Thanks for the info.

I keep my dust collector running when I turn. It not only pulls most of my shavings, but practically ALL of the dust.
I use the Lathe Dust port from HF (I'm not sure if they make it any more) but PSI sells the same unit.
There was a post somewhere a while ago with a pic... I'll see if I can find it.

If you look closely at this picture, you will see virtually ALL the shavings getting sucked into the dust shroud, and practically nothing coming forward towards the user or down towards the lathe.
