I wasn't sure it was going to happen but yesterday before we flew home my wife and I did get to spend time with the bomb aimer from my father's WWII flight crew. What a gentleman and boy did he have some great stories. I'm just sorry that we had to cut the visit short to catch our flight.

He is amazing for 94. At one point we were walking along and my wife and I could barely keep up with him.

Even as all of our military folks are heroes to me, each generation has its own unique qualities. My dad came from the same generation as your father. I have yet to meet one that was not humble and mannerly to the nth degree. If only we could capture more of their stories before it is too late. I was always told that when a veteran starts to relate some of their stories, it is good for them. Usually, they have so much bottled up that they won't talk about. My deepest respect for all of them.
