3 weeks ago our 6-year old terrier mix fell off the exam table at the vet and hurt his neck. Last week he lost his "big sister" Retriever to old age related conditions. Today he's on his way to Nashville (3 hour trip) for emergency surgery on his neck because he's not improving with medication.

If you have any luck to spare he sure could use it...

You are making the extra effort to do the best you can for you K-9 companion. I well understand the close attachment you have for your trusted friend...I would do the same.

I hope all goes very well.

Art, you and your's are in my thoughts. Been through this last year, and also this year. Very difficult, but a part of life.

I'll be thinking of you and your's. Be well, Mark

Thanks for all the wishes and prayers. The caring and concern shown between members of this group is second to none, and is much appreciated.

The little one has been admitted and his surgery is scheduled for Wednesday. The surgeon says he does not see any nerve damage so we're hoping for a good outcome once they repair the ruptured disc and relieve the pressure on his spinal column.

The little one is being discharged today, so the wife is on the way to pick him up. According to the surgeon, everything went smoothly and he removed a "massive amount" of disc fragments that were pressing on the little one's spinal cord. Our boy will need 6 weeks of Crate Rest to recover, but after that he should be fine.

Thanks again for all your prayers and encouragement.

That's good to hear, you'll have to update us on his recovery. Maybe I missed it, did you share his name?

He was a rescue dog, and we brought him home just in time for Thanksgiving dinner. The first thing he went after was the wife's Green Beans and Bacon, so he's been Beaner ever since.

The final vet appointment was this morning. Beaner received his walking (and running and jumping) papers. He's a happy little critter again! For those of you in the Southeast USA , I highly recommend the Nashville Veterinary Specialists clinic if you find yourself needing more than standard procedures for your fur babies.
