Side hollowed ornaments underway, these were more challenging than I expected.

Very nice Cody. The colors are very complimentary.

A quick explanation of the process will make my 2018 ornaments a bit easier!

I start by turning a 2.5" diameter by 6" long cylinder, with a tenon to fit into my chuck. After mounting the cylinder in the chuck, I make a 1" ring by rounding the edges on the end of the cylinder, partially hollow the ring and then parting off the ring (I did 5 rings from the cylinder). I then reverse the ring and mount it in cole jaws and round the edges and complete the hollowing process. I then drill through the ring so that I have a way of attaching my finials. I then turn two disks to glue on the sides of the ring, and then add some finials. The final ornament is 5.5 to 6 inches long with the rounded part having a diameter of 2.5". Hope that offers some explanation. Drilling the holes for the finials and hollowing are the tricky parts. Cracked one while drilling and cut through side while hollowing on another one.
