I was talking to my BIL yesterday and he said he was digging stumps out of his yard and one was blood red. I dropped the phone and headed for the door thinking he had a box elder root ball. The root ball was red but it was very dense and heavy and my bandsaw(10" delta) had a hard time cutting it. I tried nukeing blanks to dry them but it didn't work. I was going to use acetone, plexi, and vaccuum but when I dropped them in they sank. What kind of wood grows in Ky. that is that dense and has red heart wood?
