I watched the slide show with my 13yr. He did not know what I was talking about with some of the slides...(ie streelights coming on. red rover, etc).

Yeah, how about catching 'Lightening Bugs'? That was alway fun. Squish them just as they light up and you can paint yourself and 'GLOW' in the dark!!!

I remember every single thing on the list. It sure would be nice if life could be like that again. Thanks for the reminder of a much more enjoyable and peaceful time.:)

Lenny, I downloaded the powerpoint viewer but it still wouldn't allow me to view it. It says I need Microsoft PowerPoint, which I do not have. Thanks for trying.

The good old days. I remember them and more...............

10 cents would buy you a pocket full of penny candy.

There were actually 5 and 10 stores. (as in cents)

Jumping in the mud puddle to see who could make the biggest splash.

The car hop where the girls came out on roller skates to take your order.

Skipping rocks on the lake.

BB's were 10 cents a tube and you cherished each shot.

Playing marbles and collecting boulders (shooters).

Trading bubble gum cards with your best friend.

My sisters with paper dolls and hop scotch.

Trick or Treating 'till every house was hit and going back to the good ones.

Strapping on roller skates and making a round around the neighborhood.

Mowing yards with a reel mower (avoiding those with dogs)

When cigarettes were 25 cents in a machine and a bottle of Coke was a dime.

At school getting whacked on the knuckles with a ruler because I called the kid next to me a poopie face.

Later at home having to eat a bar of soap because I called a kid a poopie face. :frown:

Doing a round-the-world with my yo-yo and busting out the bed room light.

Stuffing toilet paper in my hand me down shoes because they were too big, but still grateful to get them.

When we finally got an outdoor antenna and didn't need the rabbit ears with foil any more. YES!

Making popcorn on the stove in a pan.

Chasing the ice cream truck down the street.

Getting up at 4AM to deliver the news paper before going to school.

Getting a peddle car made you the envy of the neighborhood.

A Huffy bike made you king!

Rotary phones and party lines.

S&H green stamps and Blue Chip stamps.

Getting a dime for a carton of milk at school, it was six cents. If I found a penny I could get a bag of peanuts for a nickle. The problem was the next day explaining to mom what happened to the 4 cents.

Watching the movies at the drive-in.

Going with dad to the 5&10 to get a new tube for the TV.

Sitting at the dining table until ALL of my vegetables were gone. YUK!

A big cardboard box was your castle/fort and a towel was your cape.

Remember the slinky, frisbee, hoo la hoop, Tonka Toys and superball?

Life was good! :)

Actually it was two miles and I did it every day rain, snow, sleet or shine. First, second and third grade - then we moved and it got down to 3/4 mile for 4th thru 8th grade. In high school it was a cake walk - only 1/4 mile to where the bus stop was and if it was raining there was a garage where we could wait inside.
