It might work for standard kit pens, but if you want to do closed-end work, it may not have the capacity needed. It looks a little dusty anyhow.

Would that take a 100 morse taper? Since there is no tailstock, you may have difficulty in drilling on that lathe.:wink:

I don't think it is a lathe at all. I think it is a boring machine of some kind. Still a big puppy though.

There's a show on the Discovery channel that shows how huge machines are built. There was an episode not long ago that showed a huge lathe in Germany turning a propeller shaft for the world's largest cruise ship.

The drive shaft weighed 250 tons, IIRC.

Now that was a lathe.
