Downloaded a favorite album from my local library (it expires in three weeks) and heard this lyric again, it's near the end of the song. I believe it is unique in the whole world of music, can you name the song and the group?

:musical-note: Is there gas in the car?:musical-note:

I'll add another line if it's needed, later.

If you cheat, that's fine, just don't share the answer here.

I'm pretty good at Music Trivia, as that's all i do is listen to music at night.

I'm 99.9% it's Steely Dan. Words and song escape my memory, but I remember this line for sure. If it's same song

You'd go to l a on a dare and you'd go it alone

Kid Charlemagne by Steely Dan, from the Royal Scam album. (One of my favorites)
If you have never heard the complete album, pull it up on Youtube and give it a spin.
Fantastic musicians.

The song was inspired by the Greatful Deads LSD maker back in sixties.

Netflix had a documentary on the LSD Makers. it was called Magic bus. Very cool documentary if you've never seen it before

You guys are good! For some reason that pair of lines sticks in my brain.

"Is there gas in the car, yes there's gas in the car."

Recently watched some long interviews with Donald Fagan. The level of details they put in their music is astounding! Play the Aja album and Gerry Rafferty's Baker Street album back to back, takes me back to high school.

You put a smile on my face on this gloomy Monday. Thanks for playing along!

I had the Steely Dan part--but couldn't get rid of Pink Floyd to be able get beyond "is there gas in the car?".

At least it was a good song that crowded it out, not some silly commercial, or the Chicken Dance song. I'd mention a few others, but I have fought hard to get them out of my mind and don't want to invite them back.:)
