I was in my local Woodcraft store on Tuesday and they had just received a new shipment of goods and they had some wood board of a species called Beli.
It looks a lot like Zebra wood except that the grain is much tighter.
Since I had never heard of this wood, I looked it up in The Wood Database and found out that it was native to Africa and was not normally seen outside of that continent.
By the way, I did purchase one board the was 3/4 x 3 x 36 to cut up into pen blanks. The piece had a great grain pattern and was unusual in that on one end the grain was almost quarter sawn, while on the other end it was more on a diagonal bias.
Once I cut up some blanks I will post some pictures of what it looks like before and after.
