With the Bash winding down, Its time to start thinking about the Midwest Penturners Gathering, April 7th-8th in Wadsworth Ohio.

There will be 4 contest this year. Details in post below and will be added to the website.

We will also be gathering Pens for troops. Bring finished pens you wood like to donate to our troops and we will send them in for you.:biggrin:

The fee for the whole weekend is $25 (significant others and children are free)

Contest Information

Here are the particulars on the Contest at this year Midwest Penturners gathering

1. Bob Jackson Special

In recognition of our the lead organizer of the MPG the last two years, We will have a ball point pen contest in his style. And if you have ever seen Bob's collection of great pens you'll notice he makes a lot of Sierra style pens.

so this is a Sierra Style pen contest!

any Sierra, Wall street, Gatsby, LeRoi, Diplomat, Monarch, Elegant Sierra ,Liberty- Click or twist, normal or elegant. I am sure I missed a couple. Basically a one barrel pen approximately 2-2.5 inches long. If your not sure ask.

No CNC laser cut blanks, no tube on casting, no decals.

No customization to the kit. Kit must be commercially available.

2. Slimeline Unlimited


You must use a slimline kit for this contest. From this kit you must use at minimum the transmission.

Your completed pen must resemble a non slimline kit.

Parts may not be used from any other non slimline kits.

3. Casting Contest


Cast the blank (tube on or color cast) yourself. Make any commercially available kit.
only customization to center bands, or custom finials are allowed. No closed end pens.

4. Unlimited-Kitless

Anything goes here. Only rule is it should write when you done.:biggrin:



Basic rules


1. You are entering work that you completed. commercially available blanks are allowed as stated in the individual contest.
2. Pen should not have been displayed publicly before the contest
3. Pen will be registered Friday and Saturday morning. Pens maker will not be identified during voting.
4. Voting will start at lunch on Saturday.
5. Winners of each contest will win a prize (to be announced later.
6. An overall best of show will be determined by a panel of judges. the winner of best of show will have the option to have their pen included in the IAP collection. If declined the second placed best of show will have the option. No prizes will be awarded for best of show. Just pride and honor.
