I was looking at some of our site statistics as I am getting ready to post a few interesting facts about our little corner of the web. (Another tease... In October, there were over 12,000 downloads of our articles, and we had over half a million page views!)

Anyway, I was looking at sites people come from before they come here (the "referrer") and I discovered PenPassion.com, which I have never seen before. So I see on their events calendar that the Columbus, OH (right down the street) Pen Show is coming up next weekend. So I read all about that. Then somehow, I click over to Richard Binder's Fountain Pen Site which is just packed with tons of interesting stuff. I learned a bunch about fountain pens that I never knew.

There went my lunch hour (and a little more, maybe...)

PLEASE don't post stuff like this Jeff! I get distracted enough by THIS web site; the last thing I need are MORE interesting sites! [:D]

Thanks for the links!

I guess those of us who come to IAP after viewing our favorite porn site have been caught??

Jeff: Are you open to bribes to keep quiet??[:D]

Note: I fixed a few typos. I am not a good speller; but I'm not "THAT" bad!!

Jeff,

Add 50 brownie points to my account (I'm sure some day I will need them!!!)

The answers that came to mind have remained unposted in deference to our younger viewers. (But my tongue is nearly bitten off!!!)[B)][B)][B)]

I don't think that is the way it works Randy. I just set up my access logs the other day, and installed an analyzer, so I am no expert, by any means. I believe, at this point, that there would need to be a direct hyper-link (that you used to get here) on that other site to show up as a referral URL; but shame on you anyway. [:I]

One funny thing that I found though, is that one of my top referral URLs was this site. It would point to specific threads here too. I thought maybe people were looking at threads, and clicking on my homepage icon in my posts. After further study though, I noticed that one of the images that was frequently being accessed on my site was the little image I used to have in my sig. I had the image stored on my site. So… anytime a post is viewed here, that had my sig image in it, it would call up my server and ask for the image. That was counted as a hit, but not counted as a page view.

I removed my sig image for now to see if it makes a difference, and so far it seems to be working. I don’t want to have false hits, and my sig image can be stored on my Yahoo photo album if I want to use it again. [(edit) I assmue it could also be stored in my album here. I wonder if that would create a url loop, and show up as a false hit here...I don't know, this stuff is complex.]

No worries, all the collected statistics are anonymous.
