I was surprised to find this after turning a bowl from a 100 year old piece of Redwood. The picture was taken just after I put a coat of Tung oil, which was preceded by three coats of Sanding Sealer. More coats of Tung oil to go!
The bowl was given to me by dieseldoc, a great friend and mentor I met here on the Forum. He got it from a logger who works near the border of California and Oregon. He green turned it several years ago and recently gave it to me to finish the turning and finishing process.
The "leaf" goes completely through the wood, but photographs best on the outside.
A leaf inside of a tree! Never expected to see it so clearly, so I thought I would share it with others who love wood.
