I have turned too many pens for too long!

I can't believe it but I think I forgot everything there is about turning except as it relates to pens! I was asked to make a simple egg cup - this should not be a difficult task. Every time I try to turn out the cup - bam - I get a catch and throw the block off my lathe! I just threw the 5th one off and decided its time to vent! I have used the skew and carbide so long I'm not sure I remember how to sharpen the spindle gauge etc. I guess I better go back to Basic Turning 101. Man what a waste of time!

Nice job. The same thing happens with me and my spindle gouge. Been playing with carbides for a while, went back to my spindle gouge and seemed to have to learn it all over again.
