This is not an official notice, but it has helped me a lot over the years.

When you start a thread,and you want to check on it later, the easiest way to check on it is to use the Quick Links tab on the toolbar, then click on the "Today's Posts" line. That will give you access to all of the new posts in the IAP, including the threads you start.

And on the mobile app you can click the "Participated" link at the top of the page.

Subscribe to the thread so you get notified when new posts appear. Manually under "Thread Tools" in the menu bar "Subscribe to this Thread".

You can automatically be subscribed to any thread you post to or start, in "User CP", "Edit Options", "Default Thread Subscription Mode" (about half way down the screen).

I believe you can control how and when you get notified about subscriptions in the "User CP" tab; but I could not find it.
