From `The Wood Database`, S/Central American mahoganies (Swietenia genus) , African mahoganies (Khaya genus and Sapele (Entandrophraga genus) are all in the same family . Sapele is considered technically equivalent to mahogany , and is often sold as mahogany , but is not a mahogany .
If your blank smells somewhat like cedar when worked , it is probably sapele . If there is no obvious smell , it may be a mahogany .

A little more mahogany reading if someone so desires. The debated mahogany saga. Has been going on for many years. Depends on what side of the aisle you stand on. Many woods are or have been called part of the Mahagony family. One that was left out was Sande. Used that alot nice wood.

All, thank you very much for the quick responses. I too was thinking mahogany, however I was not certain. I think for simplicity, I will just go with Mahogany. Thanks again!!!!!
