All, I need help identifying this piece of wood I am going to turn. Any ideas?

From `The Wood Database`, S/Central American mahoganies (Swietenia genus) , African mahoganies (Khaya genus and Sapele (Entandrophraga genus) are all in the same family . Sapele is considered technically equivalent to mahogany , and is often sold as mahogany , but is not a mahogany .

If your blank smells somewhat like cedar when worked , it is probably sapele . If there is no obvious smell , it may be a mahogany .

All, thank you very much for the quick responses. I too was thinking mahogany, however I was not certain. I think for simplicity, I will just go with Mahogany. Thanks again!!!!!
