Artists (the picture painting types) have long learned technique by copying the masters. It is said that there are really only seven plots for movies and all are variations on those. As a writer, I read others to study technique. It would seem to me, a layman, that exactly copying a pen, or other turning, would be near impossible.
For our avocation, I believe we are safe from charges of plagarizm.
