Checking out insteresting stuff at Odd Lots, a chain store that suppossedly sells closeouts, but also carries some merchandise all the time, I found something very interesting.

It is a "Floating Candle Holder" which takes a small candle of the kind that you find in the grocery stores, about 3/4" x 4". It is made of glass, and the shape is somewhat like a goblet, but without the base. It comes with a wire holder and a small plastic flower wreath. The idea is to put a little water in the holder, which will float the candle as it burns. It sells for 99 cents.

Wonder what a wooden base would do to it.

Fred,
You have to explain your process for turning glass! Truly fantastic.[;)]

Interestingly enough, I found out that thick glass telescope mirror blanks are first roughed out on a CNC lathe before final polishing techniques are used! They use diamond tooling, and yup, they take light cuts.
