I'm sure others feel this way also. As I plowed through my first 20-30 pens 5 years ago, I thought they were great (not...), and eagerly gave them away to family and friends. And most had a friction finish.

I would dearly love to have them all back, and replace them with a better finish, and to correct my newbie mistakes on the fit. Some would never leave the trash can.

Several months ago my wife brought me one of my first pens that the fit was decent. It is a beautiful Koa blank (my pictures are not the best) with marked chatoyance, but both the upper and lower barrels had 4-5 cracks, with one showing the brass tube.

Disassembly actually went better than expected, and I was able to fill the cracks, and refinish with WOP. I feel much better now.

I do that to, I like to do a do over. With the HF punch most pens are easy to take apart. But the click pens are tough to do with out destroying the plastic click housing. Nice work on the beautiful pen. carl
