kewl. I picked one up when I was in Utah a couple of weeks ago. Haven't had a chance to try it out yet; as I broke a couple of ribs and SWMBO won't let me go out in the shop to play. Something about pain pills and spinning wood she says isn't a good combination....

I watched that video and thought about them but then got into thinking, how good could that be on the bearings of the lathe??? You really have to lean into that to get a good pattern and the harder the wood the harder you have to lean into it. Does anyone else think that could harm the bearings??? A mini lathe would probably bog down for sure.

I doubt seriously that for the short time one would apply these tools to the turning that there would be any damage to any part of the lathe.

The initial cutting of any out of round, out of balance wood causes far more vibration stress on the chuck components and the lathe.
