My brother had the same problem. He thought it was funny at first then the bird moved to his PU mirrors.When that happened so started the pooping on the side of the PU then it became a serious problem.

Interesting looking Cardinal. It doesn't look like the ones in Illinois.

My parents put rubber snakes on their side mirrors. Hmmmm, do cardinals taste like chicken? My advice is to point him the direction of St. Louis, MO or Louisville, KY. Lots of Cardinals there.

His crest is pulled down in the pictures...you can just see a hint of the tip of it. They can pull it down or flare it up. Most pictures of them show it up. Also, it can lose it's crest when molting.

We had that problem with a roadrunner and the side mirrors. Their feet are hell on a paint job. Lots of scratches.
