Converter Question

I took the converter out of one of my Barons today and went to put it into an El Grande.... it would not seat... in fact it fell out... but would seat fine in the Baron again...
I took a new converter out and put that in the El Grande and it was fine...
Is the stem end on the nibs of the El Grande thinner than the stem ends on the Barons and Jr Gents...
I found this interesting and was wondering if anyone else tried this..

I think I have gone both ways.... I know I just put the one from my El Grande in a Baron and I think it was in the baron before.... I will have to get back to you on if it still works in the El Grande now
