My wife and I just returned from a trip to Machu Picchu and the Galápagos Islands. The natives in the Galapagos run around without any clothes so I took a lot of booby pictures. Some of my favorites:

Those are really nice pictures... my trip to Peru was for business about 16 years ago... never got to go up to Machu Picchu but did get to visit a museum that had a bunch of artifacts from there. They were very impressive.

I spent 2 or 3 days in Lima visiting a client, then flew up to Carjamarca to visit a gold mine that was being worked... they were strip mining a 14,000 foot mountain... being a flatlander from Houston which is below sea level and suddenly finding my self at 14,000 feet I had some serious breathing problems, expecially when I saw locals swing sledge hammers driving stakes... I get winded at 900 feet in TN using a 3 lb sledge to put down rebar in my landscape timbers... they wound up giving me a cup of coca tea to help with the breathing.

Carjamarca is the town where the Spaniards captured the Inca king and demanded a room filled with gold as ransom... the town is at only 10,000 feet.

Was it the Larco Museum? They have quite a collection of erotic pottery.

14,000 is pretty rough, I have been that high once without any acclimatization and it was rough. The highest we got on this trip was 12,400 after spending some time at 10,000 and it was not bad. However, I was not swinging a sledge hammer.

Don't remember the name of the museum, my rep from the steamship line I used to ship to Peru arranged the excursion, but the items in your pictures look familiar.

We were chauffeured about Lima in an armored car and the driver was armed and my SS rep said he had an Uzi under the seat... several times I saw police or soldiers walking the streets with assault rifles on their shoulders...

I think there was a lot of terrorism going Until around 2000. Did not see that type of thing but many people were complaining about political corruption. They have a tendency to put their presidents in prison.
