Antler deer call?

My dad gave me a bunch of antlers (I'll be getting more from him periodically and will probably attempt some trades) and one is elk and very thick. I'm thinking about trying to make a deer or elk call out of it. Has anyone tried this before?

I've done it. As long as the hunk of antler is big enough, it isn't too different than turning wood. Harder and slower but not all that difficult. I really don't do much turning but leave it looking as much like antler as possible. The stopper on mine was made from wood as antler doesn't compress so a stopper made from antler might not stick well, wood can be forced slightly for a tight fit.
