I am planning on buying some aniline dyes from CSUSA and noticed that they have 2 groups...one is waterbased powder the other is alcohol based pre-mixed. Other than faster drying for alcohol based...any other differences between the two?

Highest in my priority is the light-fastness.

Thanks for any input.

Okay, I'm going to fall back on my science background for a moment and pose a silly thought. Alcohol is hydrophylic (means loves water, but translates to mixes well w/water). That being the case, you could use just enough water to dissolve what you need and use DNA for the remainder of the volume. Of course you could take this another direction as well and see if the waterbased powder will dissolve in DNA. Just thinking outloud again.
