The following is a reprint of email received from the AAW. Please read it carefully and consider helping out...

The American Association of Woodturners, a 501 c3 charitable organization, has created the AAW Emergency Relief Fund to aid AAW members and chapters affected by disasters. During the recent hurricane Katrina, many AAW members were severely affected some with total losses to their homes and businesses. Binh Pho has invited the following 35 world-class woodturning artist friends to join him and donate art pieces to be auctioned to help raise money for the AAW Emergency Relief Fund. 100% of all money raised will be used to help the victims and nothing will be taken out for "fund raising" or "administrative costs".

This auction will be on eBay and all pieces can be viewed at or after 7 PM Pacific or 10 PM Eastern on Sunday, November 20, 2005.

To view the auction, go to www.eBay.com . Your cursor will be flashing in a blank search box. In that box, type the words "AAW Relief Fund". The next box to the right says "All categories". Click the "search" button to the right of that and you will see all of the pieces in this charity auction. By clicking on the item title in blue, that particular piece with its description, will be shown. All of the pieces are arranged to end their auctions at different times, 5 minutes apart on three different nights Monday November 28th, Tuesday the 29th and Thursday the 30th.

To bid, one must first be registered with eBay. It is easy and free. To register if you have not already done so, go to www.eBay.com and just to the right of the eBay logo it says "Hello! Sign in or register". Click on register. Enter the information asked for. Next, you will select a user ID and password. No one will know your name when you bid; they will only see your user ID. After you select a user ID and password, read and agree to the terms. Ebay will send you a confirmation email that has a button for completing the eBay registration.

The AAW will accept the following payments. PayPal is preferred. If you want to pay by credit card (VISA or MasterCard) after the bidding is finished, call 651-484-9094 between 8 AM and 4:30 PM (Central Time) weekdays. To pay by check or money order, make the check to "AAW Emergency Relief Fund" and mail to AAW Emergency Relief Fund, 222 Landmark Center, 75 West 5th St., St. Paul, MN 55102. Shipping will be made after the check clears.

Most sellers on eBay prefer payment by PayPal so while you are at it, go to https://www.paypal.com/ and register. There is no cost to the buyer and you can pay PayPal by either a credit card or draft on your checking account.

All of these generous artists have personally donated great art pieces worth a lot of money right out of their pockets. Now it is your opportunity to acquire these pieces and to donate to this worthy cause by not trying to see how low you can buy a piece but instead, how much you can donate over the retail value of the pieces. If you have any questions, contact John Hill, the Treasurer of the American Association of Woodturners at 828-645-6633 or johnrhill@charter.net . If you need any help registering with eBay, contact AAW member and professional turner Fred Wilson at 321-267-4390 or fredjr@bellsouth.net .

Please forward this message to any of your collectors so that we can get the most exposure possible to help raise the needed funds.

THANKS and GOOD LUCK!
