9th Anniversary Logo Contest!

Fame! Fortune! Immortality! Free Stuff! and a $200 PRIZE!

Enter via email (see below) by Friday, Oct 26, 2012.

Welcome to what has become a very fun yearly tradition at the IAP: Our Anniversary Logo Design Contest. YOU design it, and the membership votes on it. The logo ends up on our Donation Drawing coffee mug, and graces the front page at our site for the entire year.

What we're looking for is a logo

  • with clean, simple lines in black and white
  • that has elements of pens, the IAP, penmaking, etc.
  • which likely contains the number "9" or "IX" or the word "nine" or "ninth" or some other commonly recognized symbol for 9. You get the idea.
You MAY (as the 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 logos did) incorporate one of the existing IAP logos into your submission. In a followup to this post, I'll include a vector file for our logo for your designing convenience. HERE is the vector file.

The Contest

Beginning precisely two yocktoseconds after I post this thread, and continuing through approximately midnight US Eastern time on October 26, 2011, entries for the logo contest will be accepted as jpg images sent via email to logo9 ("at" penturners.org)

If more than 12 submissions are received, I and our trusty management team will whittle those down to the best 12, then we'll have two rounds of member voting; a 7-day semi-final round to select the top 3, and a 7-day final round to select the winner.

The names of the members submitting entries will not be revealed until after the final voting. So, DO NOT POST YOUR ENTRY ANYWHERE!!! Submit it by email as described below.

If you win, we may ask you to tweak your design very slightly to fit our needs (or our crack digital editing team can handle that), then it will become the official 9th anniversary IAP logo. It will appear on our annual run of limited edition coffee mugs and perhaps other items, as well as be immortalized on the front page of our site for the whole of 2013.

The Prize

At a minimum, the winner will receive:

  • A $200 gift certificate to the penmaking supply vendor of their choice OR a $200 gift certificate to Amazon.com
  • One of each item on which the logo is used (mugs, hats, whatever we make...)
Submitting Your Entry

DO NOT POST YOUR ENTRY!!

  • You may submit one entry.
  • There is no fee for entry. Entries become the property of penturners.org, LLC
  • Submit your entry by email to: logo9 ("at" penturners.org). Please put "Logo Contest Entry" in the subject field of your email. All entries will be acknowledged by email within 24 hours of receipt.
  • Entries should be jpg images of your digitally created entry.
  • Only members of The IAP/penturners.org are eligible.
  • Sorry, members of the management team and moderators, you're not eligible!
Additional Information:

  • The logo you submit will be voted upon exactly as you submit it. We won't do any cleanup or tweaking until after the winner is selected.
  • If your submission includes any elements which are not your own creation, you must have full rights to distribute the elements included with your design, as well as to convey ownership to Penturners.org, LLC.
  • The logos need to be black and white, not gray scale or color. The reason for that is the design of the mugs, with the logo in clay relief, can accommodate only two "colors" (clay or no clay).
In case you're new and aren't familiar with our mugs, here are examples.

Contact me via PM, or post below if you have questions or concerns.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL WHO ENTER!!

You'll need some sort of graphic arts package, such as Photoshop.

You can read about jpg files here.

You might want to find someone who can take your creative ideas sketched on paper and turn them into the necessary digital artwork.

Jeff, please correct me, if I am wrong!!!

Craig, I THINK you could sketch the logo on a piece of paper, then take a picture with a digital camera and you would have a .JPG image. This would qualify, I believe!!
AND it has the benefit of being simple and understandable by the non-digitally enhanced!!!

The rules say digitally created. Probably for easy transfer to the printer for the mugs, the wall clocks and the embroiderer for Jeff's ninth year Bugatti seats.

What you suggest Ed will not work without some serious post production work. I've tried.

The image resulting from that would need to be cleaned up because it would be gray-scale. I'd accept it if it were clean and well-made.

The logos are not flooding my inbox yet, folks!

Let me know what's keeping you from submitting a logo!

My theory (again, I am very willing to be corrected) would be to SUBMIT the logo as suggested (a JPG from a hand-drawn piece of paper).

SHOULD that logo win, it could be "run through" CorelDraw Trace (or the equivalent from Adobe) and a digital "original" would be created. Just trying to make this simple enough that it allows more entries.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Any activity in submissions Jeff? If you haven't entered folks, give it a shot! Get those creative juices flowing! It's worth the potential of a free IAP mug if your logo is chosen .

Martin, thanks for asking, I've been meaning to post. Submissions are WAY below expectations. So far only 4 entries. Last year after a week we had 12.
