To Parents, Grandparents, Aunts, and Uncles.

There is no reason to wait. Get those kids out in the shop and start those entries.

The kids contests are adding a drawing to the contests.
EVERY child that enters will be in this drawing.
A member of the IAP has made a special donation.
There will be three prizes to this drawing just for the kids.
First place is a set of turning tools.
A donation from our own Dalecamino (Chuck)
Second place will receive an IAP Blanket.
Made by my wife.
Third place will receive a BoB.
Mixture will include at lease two poured blanks from JohnU

So now it is up to the members of the IAP with children.
Get them involved and out to the shop.
Share with them the fun you have and build a memory.

The above will happen during the 2018 BASH.

Poop, just a bit over the age limit! I'd have bid on that in the auction.

 There will be two blankets for you to win. One will be for auction. The other one Mike will decide where it will go for a prize. Maybe he will find a great contest to put it in.

This is just practice for her right now. Something to get ready for the big One Five coming up next year.

My 5 year old Grandson has been asking to work on the lathe. We been making some toy wood kits, like a car and a train. First thing he says when he visits, "Pappy, let's go to the workshop" I been researching, how I can get him on the lathe safely, including a "Micro" set of tools. He has good "motor-skills", and he truly enjoys making things with Pappy.

At 5 years, he is to young to be at the lathe by himself.
(in my opinion)

However, you are a better judge then I am cause you are there.

WITH THAT SAID................

I see nothing wrong with you helping him by guiding his hands, and together you both hold the tools. (did I say that right?) Pappy, the decision is yours. You know what he can do and can't do with your help. Let him do what he can, but make sure he is included in the building of this pen. Let him pick the blank out of several. Allow him to sand after you show him how. Make sure he has on the correct safety gear. (Hearing protection, dust mask, safety glasses.) Watch him like a hawk and teach him the correct way to do this hobby. You will build a fantastic memory for the both of you.

I am sure that I speak for the membership when I say, we look forward to seeing just what the two of you enter.

Good luck and safe turning.

More great news

We have another guest artist donation.
TWO special blanks from anonymous person.

These two blanks alone are over $30.00
Third place prize is getting up there.

All prize packages will have some blanks in them.

This drawing is for the kids but I feel certain that they will share the prizes with those who help them to enter.
So if you want to drool over the packages the kids are going to get......then get them out and make a pen. Enter them ASAP.

They can't win without your help!
