Squaring the blank

I've learned the hard way that if you want your segmentation to look good you better square your blank. But easier said than done! Would anyone like to share any tricks or jigs they use to square their blanks! Thanks, George

See the tool in the center of the photo. To me I would be at a loss for many woodworking projects without a good tablesaw. To me it is the most used tool in my shop. Can do so many different things with it. In a craftsman's hands you can make it create so many fine works of art. Would not be without one.

George,

There are a couple of ways to control segmented work. One is to maintain outside control surfaces. The other is to peg the centers and use the center line to set the controls.

Both work.

I tend towards using the centerline and turn between centers, but not all patterns work that way.

Bandsaw and belt sander can work if a table saw is not available.
