I have been wanting a matching pen and pencil set for my work and envisioned black ebony matched with striped ebony. I put a little aluminum scalloping in for contrast. My avatar shows the bottom black ebony in process.

I turned and finished them this last weekend with CA and BLO.

They are based on a slimline with the band removed.

BTW. I may never work with black ebony again. That stuff is hard hard hard! This piece of ebony shows no grain at all. It looks like plastic resin.

My photo skills are needing a little help.

Give me your honest opinion. I hope you like them.

Looks like a slam dunk to me. You nailed it!

I've done ebony a few times, and I feel your pain. Worse, ebony is rumored to be prone to crack. I have not had this happen, but if you experience it, tell us about it.

I like that slimline mod! Great job on that set.

Man, that would be a bummer if they cracked!

Nice Pen/Pencil set.

There is no rumor that ebony will crack because it is a truth. If you do not keep the temperature down will drilling or finishing, you are prone to cracking the final product.
