Casting Pressure Potless

I would like to try my hand at casting some blanks.

What options are there to do this without a pressure pot ?

Polyester resin doesn't require a pressure pot, and can be found at craft supply stores in small quantities. If you find you like it, it can be ordered in larger quantities from other suppliers. I've made several blanks this way with good luck. I cast in 3/4 inch pvc tubes.

Another material that casts well without a pressure pot is the Royal Palm Thin.

Polyester resin works especially well if you warm the container in a bucket of water. It thins it and allows the bubbles to rise. It can dramatically decrease the amount of time it takes for it to set though, so be careful. I got more air bubbles using vacuum than I did by warming it and so did a friend, so if you don't have a pot give it a try.
