My best friend's sister is a biochemistry major and wanted a pen, so I decided to try something new. I started with a piece of curly maple and cut out the helix by hand with a coping saw. Then came the painstaking process of layering in strips of pink craft paper using medium CA. I finished the blank off with 2 pieces of corian in each end. I realize that I could've simply casted the pattern in, but I like the look of the paper better. If anyone else trys this, I would highly reccomend using thick CA to make the glue up less messy.
