Jeff,

Sorry for the delay in reply. Been busy with work. Your chuck shipped out on Monday the 5th, so it should be there within the next couple of days. Please let me know of any issues that arise.

Charlie & Betsy,

The chucks are used to allow one to create a pen where one end is closed. Like the image of the aluminum one above. Normally, you turn the barrels of a pen on a madrel that is threaded through the center of the barrels. The pin chuck allows you to turn off the end of a jacobs chuck leaving on end open for cutting, shaping and polishing. The chuck is a rod with a slot. When the tube of the blank is rotated on the chuck, it locks in place with friction and holds in position. There are other ways to turn pens this was, but the pin chucks tend to make it a bit easier for most.

Also, it is required that one have a different sized chuck to fit the inner diamter of each pen tube. I make one for the Baron (23/64" ID Lower tube) and the Gents / Statesman (11mm ID Lower tube).

Cheers,

Fangar
