Worth $400?

Hey guys. Got a shot at a Sherline 4000 in excellent shape, for $400. Is it worth it?

Comes with:
3 jaw chuck
new table riser block
2 new 2.5" handwheels
cut off tool & holder
new spacer block kit
4 jaw chuck
new steady rest
new compound slide
thread cutting attachment
seperate motor for the slide

Yes, the thread cutting is 100.00 the motor another 60, the lathe used is 350+The 4 jaw chuck is and additional 100.00. Your not stealing it but its a good deal

I'd think $350 would be the magic number, $300 would be a super deal.

I can't imagine a huge demand for this lathe (they are good lathes, just a lot of competition in that lathe's price range).

I have had several of the Sherline lathes. The 4400 would be better, but for small metal parts will do a great deal. You can also do metric threads as well as standard ones on the lathe. Parts are readily available both from Sherline and discountcampus.com. Sherline has several videos on their website that show speeds and feeds for different metals being cut.

The prices on the accessories are current used prices on Ebay. And there is a huge turn over of Sherline equipment on Ebay. I still watch the auctions.
