Just wondering .....

If you buy that cam lock kit from LMS, you have to drill one 1/2" hole in the far side of the tail stock assembly.

Does drilling that hole present any problems ?

How critical is placement of that hole ?

Has anyone here performed this operation ?

I have one of those small metal lathes and I did buy the cam lock kit several years ago, but I have never attempted to install it because I have been worried about drilling the hole ... clamping the tail stock assembly on the drill press table securely could be problematic without the proper clamps.

Would appreciate any comments.

I installed it on my MF lathe. Drilling the hole posed no problems.

I have had one brand or another of the mini lathes for close to 20 years. The best 2 added features were this and the quick change tool post.

Thanks for the link, Chuck. I had not seen that how-to on the LMS site.

You're welcome. When you are looking at an item on LMS, click on "More Information" then, Chris's Tips. Sometimes there will be links like this one.
