Well, I pulled the trigger and the LMS 8.5x16 arrived in perfect shape. Got over my initial intimidation, turned some air, then started playing. Started out with a Zen because its straight sided; anodized it following Brad G's excellent instructions.Pic posted in soyp. So thanks to everybody for the good advice concerning my purchase. Great tool in my arsenal.

congratulations on the new lathe and the aluminum pens. I got my 8.5x16 from LMS and think it is a great little lathe. It should give you many hours of enjoyment. Tell us what accessories you got and some pics.

Didn't get alot of extras. The basic tooling package, dial indicator, boring head, die holder and tap guide. Will add things as I discover I "need" them.
