Looks like it will work on the tail stock too. Two magnets on the side of the tailstock and one on the back of the drill chuck.

Irritating that he called a right angle mending plate an angle iron, and backlash in the thread as runout, but a pretty good idea. Curious how that first application, hanging on an extended mending plate, will do while cutting? Seems like it will be vibrating to me.

Now THAT is Ingenious. Great idea. You can get six inch digital calipers from HF for about $10.00. switchable between Inch/Metric/inch fractional.
