Live center extension?

Is there such a thing available? It seems the bearing housing on my LC is too bulky to get the tool close to my turning stock. Maybe a low profile LC? Any help here?

Chuck,The only thing that has a profile that will allow you to get in closer is a CNC live center, , they have a step down at the point, so you can get closer in, The drawback is even Enco get's at least 250.00 for them, try Feebay, here is an MT-3 but they are around from Enco in an MT2, http://www.ebay.com/itm/Royal-MT-3-...7992231?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item484064. Royal make a very good tool. but unfortunately I've never seen the CNC type centers cheap.

Chuck, try this one from Grizzly. It's probably as inexpensive as you're going to find I think. I have the same problem and use one similar.
