Hi all,

Picked up the new LMS 3536 8.5x 16 lathe at the UPS freight depot yesterday and got it off the truck here at home this morning. Boy, was it heavy, a little over twice as much as the Grizzly 7x12. It did not have the red goop on it as the Grizzly did. I've wiped it down and put power to it. Everything works just fine. It will be a day or two before I really know how it turns or how much adjusting I have to do. I did install the QCTP. It is steel in lieu of aluminum as on the 7x12. Any suggestions from the metal lathe members? Will keep you posted.

Ben

I've been looking at that same machine. I'll be interested in your opinion after you've used it for awhile.

Thats a nice machine, LMS does a good job. You'll REALLY like the extra 4" in length, now you can leave the tailstock on the bed!

That's a nice looking lathe! Please let us know what you think of it after you get to play with it a bit.

Very nice! I've been toying with the thought of getting one of those and setting it up here at work for a bit of turning fun when it's slow. I'm guessing you'll find a lot more stuff to do on the metal lathe you ever really imagined. I know that was the case when I got mine.

Congratulations Ben, that's a good looking machine. Like Rick said LMS does a fine job and I don't think they'd put their name on it if it wasn't a nice lathe.
