Finally made someting..

on a metal lathe.

Need a pen mill shaft for a bolt action so I finally made one.

I know to figure out why there is so much flex in my cross slide.

Good Job... please explain why you need a shaft for a bolt action though?

I need a shaft for my pen mill for the size of a bolt action tube.I never bought a complete set of shafts just a 7mm with the mill. I always made a 7mm tubed blank to fit the tubes i was using.

I couldn't find the one i had for the bolt action tube so figured might as well make a shaft. So i could use the mill to square the ends of the blank before turning, I always cut extra on my blanks.

then i use the sanding jig that rherrell sells to finish squaring my blanks up.

Once you get a metal lathe, you'll find yourself making more and more and more things that you would otherwise be buying.

Now you need to buy a milling machine so you can mill the flats for the set screws......welcome to the slippery slope!:biggrin:

I am going gave to upgrade the lathe. I few thing I don't like about it. Then I see a mill coming.
