Do I need one?

i have a rikon mini lathe the " wood fast" series. I am needing something to turn solid brass nibs. Is this lathe something I can modify to get that done, or do I need to get a small metal lathe like the 7x12 harbor freight?

If I can modify my wood lathe to do this, what do I need to get this accomplished?

I personally believe you would be best to purchase the HF lathe. The motor for the Rikon or any wood lathe is not suitable for continuous metal work.

I personally would not buy a HF, reconditioned bits and pieces, I went through 3 of them in 1 year. Spend $100 more and get a grizzly online from Sears........jmo

Lots of different suppliers (HF, Grizzly, ENCO and more) get the machines from the same plants in China.
