I had an order for a pen and pencil set in rattle snake. Don Ward turned me on to Dave at Wind River Pens. Dave came through like a champ and converted my tubes into Prairie Rattler. Moreover, these things turn like a dream. Dave includes specialized instructions for the less experienced, or timid turner, but I didn't follow them. What can I say, I'm a rebel. LOL!
Anyway, here are a couple of pics of the turned material before polishing. No abrasive of any kind has touched these blanks! YET! I turned them using a round nosed scraper, then finished them off with a skew. Ribbons of PR streamed off these blanks just like it should (I had my neighbor video that, but I haven't figured out how to post it yet. I'm looking into the youtube thing.)
Oh, and these are the first things I've tried to turn since I moved back to Texas in 2008!!!
Thanks, Dave! I'll post pics of the completed set when they are finished.
