Anyone interested in old american chestnut blanks? This log was accquired from a highend local cabinet maker. It came from a recently demolished house in middle Tennessee that was alledgely built in 1860?

Smoly's....1860! You think it's dry?

You should get some nice tight grained blanks out of that chuck!

Scott, do you live near any of the stands of the New generation Chinese/American Chestnut?, it's supposed to be almost 80% American and just enough Chinese to stop the bug.

I'll be interested to see how this looks as a pen. I have some spalted horse chestnut drying right now, can't wait to get it on the lathe :)
