My buddy came across a piece of lumber in his cabinet shop and asked me to sell it for him. There are 2 pieces available: 1"x1"x40" and 1.75"x2.75"x40". I have looked at it and turned it and believe it to be some type of rosewood. I am asking $15 for the 1x1 and $30 for the 1.75x2.75 with buyer paying shipping. I will cut the pieces to whatever size you want for shipping purposes. I have attached pictures of the rough lumber as well as a pen I made using a piece so you can see how it finishes. It turns well with some tear out (probably magnified by my dull chisel), but sands and finishes very well.

That looks like Wenge

Wenge | The Wood Database - Lumber Identification (Hardwoods)

Its not a variety of Rosewood . Still with the light and dark grain patterns makes it beautiful . I just finished making some Wenge knobs for a guitar .

I think you are exactly right. At first I thought Wenge had yellow deposits in it, but after some research found that was panga panga. I bought some of both from WoodCraft awhile back and turned them. Good eye!
