Metal detector

Anybody have a wand type metal detector they don't need? For finding metal in repurposed wood.

I could really use one.

Try gluing a 3/4 inch neodymium magnet to a piece of wood and using that as a detector . If that fails , your bandsaw will tell you !

The problem is that it will be my planer that's telling me. The bandsaw wouldn't bother me as much.

I need to be able to find small pieces embedded and don't think I can trust a magnet.

I have use a very effective metal detector for many years, it still has its original 9V battery and never failed, unless I rush.

I have the small one Lee Valley sells. It will pickup staples and larger metal when I remember to use it.
