I have a need for a pen kit similar to picture. I have never seen a kit like this. Is it possible to obtain? Is kitless the best direction. I want to make the kit from wood.

Here are a couple links to pen kits with rounded finials similar to the one pictured. You would only have to do a closed end on the body. Admittedly the center band is a little more dressy on these two kits, but it would be close.

All of the kits Lewis noted (above) are seemingly larger pens than the one you showed. One that might be closer in size is this one:

The body would have to me turned with a closed end, but it would be close. Having made a few of them through the years, I don't find it to be a terribly nice kit - plating isn't always great - but it would give a very similar look to the one you are seeking.

Use a Mistral with accents that match the components, and make the barrel closed end.

You will struggle to find a kit pen that tapers the cap to the same extent as the commercial pen in your photo Steve, because the constraint is always going to be the requirement for a tube inside it. I've tried to create a slender pen with a taper in the cap, which I have done in the form of the Leveche, but without making the centreband oversize, and therefore loads of meat at one end, tapering to next to nothing at the other, (and therefore a heavy cap), as I say, the tube inside is the limiting factor.

If you want that kind of taper you are talking either kitless, or on a kit forget the cap finial, shorten the kit tube inside and make the cap closed end too. (which means you won't have a clip either)

Thanks everyone. I kind figured I would have to enter the world of customization. Something to test my skill.
