I am working on a presentation box with a glass lid that needs lettering. I figure "go big or go home" so want to do it in gold letters.....

Any gilders in the house? Know someone qualified?

Any leads appreciated!

Thanks
Jon

If you want to do it yourself, Jon, it's not a big deal. A bottle of sizing (glue) is painted into the area of interest... for glass, I'd have a mask applied and laser-engraved to remove the mask. Paint the sizing over the mask, then remove. Lay down some leaf and push it around with a soft brush to remove the excess.

you will want to use a squirrel hair brush or a very fine china bristle to apply the leaf. I have done some leaf work. Send me a PM if you need assistance.

I think you should at least play with a scrap piece, Jon... add a skill to your repertoire. You should stop by sometime and we can play with the laser for a few things like this...

I agree with Dan...gilding is actually quite simple.....just remember to hit it with a good finish to seal it after brushing
