Hi, I need to make a present for my niece's wedding, she lives in Alabama. I'd like to make it out of something native to Alabama. It should be something that I can engrave as well.

Will buy or trade. I have a small but growing collection of native Vermont woods.

Thanks,

Gary

I have some 200 year old yellow heart pine blanks that came off an old share cropper building that was built in the early 1900's. I have turned pens from it and also have had some of them engraved. It is soft wood, but if you take your time it will make nice pens. Will be glad to send you a few.

+1 for Pecan, good call Herb

Also, an Auburn fan might appreciate Southern Live Oak (Toomers Corner). You can get some here, but it is probably sourced in TX.
