The epic journey of a $2.00 pen kit donated to VA Hospital

Win#1 – Kit received by Voluntary Services.
Win#2 – Letter of thanks sent to donor so they can take value of their gift
off their taxes.
Win#3 – The kit is then put in the hands of a deserving Veteran who turns it
on a wood lathe into a fine writing instrument.
Win#4 – The Veteran, he or she, gets to keep the first pen they make. For
most Veterans, it is their first time operating a wood lathe. It's
very therapeutic and rewarding.
Win#5 – To see the smile on the face of a Vet after finishing their first pen –
priceless.
Win#6 – Vets are encouraged to make more pens which are then given back
to Voluntary Services.
Win#7 – If they are there long enough, most Vets are anxious to give back
and make several more pens.
Win#8 – Voluntary Services then gives the pen to people who in some way
have helped the VA with a gift of their time or other valuable
donations.
Win#9 – It is evident that those who receive pens from Voluntary Services
show them to other people and have good things to say about the
VA program.

WHAT A TRIP!!
