I had just a couple pieces of this wood. The first blew up on lathe. With sower speeds and sharper tools I got this one.

(BTW I don't know what the wood is.)

Tim; Looks like it may be in the Myrtle or Laurel family I have some Myrtle that I turned that looks quite like this. Figured Myrtle is very hard to keep in one piece while turning, needs lots of CA to hold it together. Jim S

I agree. It looks alot like rose myrtle burl to me. I've done a few with that wood.
